Let Them Sing It To You

Let Them Sing It To You

A silly site that links words from songs to your text. Regular messages are completely incomprehensible, but I've found that gibberish and free verse work pretty well—essentially the same schtick that worked for me in high school creative writing class.

Playing DVD's on a 2-channel stereo

I have a nice, high end, two channel stereo. I have neither the space nor the inclination to expand into home theater at this time. My TV sits in between my speakers (like I said....not much space). I note that DVD's can offer a choice of audio formats. For example, my latest Grateful Dead DVD, Dead Ahead, offers "Dolby Stereo" and "Dolby Digital 5.1." Other DVD's, whether music videos or just plain old movies, offer similiar choices, if named slightly different. I always prefer the 5.1, even though I am playing it through a two channel system with no decoding.

Favorite Classical Style Christmas/Holiday Music?

I own the Messiah in both CD and LP versions and if you do not already own both Cantus Comfort And Joy recordings or the John Marks Red, Blue, Green: Rejoice series Vol 1,2,&3 of chamber style Christmas selections you are truly missing it. These Rejoice CDs are the ultimate holiday background music of all time...IMO. My wife had me bring out both totes of Holiday music on turkey day. What will you be spinning for the next month?

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

In the US, we're celebrating Thanksgiving today, ostensibly a holiday when we take stock of our blessings and give thanks for them. These days, Thanksgiving is mostly a foodie bacchanal and football orgy. Instead of the usual ironic, silly, and interesting urls Stereophilia usually offers, I'm posting links to some of the most worthwhile causes I know. If you feel thankful, share a little of your good fortune with these folks.
