budget tube

Forums

I've recently acquired a pair of Spica TC 60's and I'm thinking of buying an integrated tube amp to drive them.

I would like to spend less than $600 bucks on a used unit.

Jolida 302?
Dynakit ST 70?
Your input?

I don't know of anywhere where I can demo these locally so your input would help.

Thanks, Chris

Highend audio - in which part of your head will it be found?

I will try to clarify the question. People involved in this insane hobby are pursuing what some people delude themselves into thinking is reproducing live music in their home. Others will admit they are trying to put together a system that sounds good to them.

What I am wondering is: since truly high fidelity is impossible, who is happier, the person who decides to be content with their system, or the person who owns the current state of the art gear? That's a long sentence!

We are wary and watchful, cautiously anticipating the sudden fall.

"You've taken on a design challenge and come up with a solution that's been widely admired and won you accolades. But a year or so later, you realize you made a mistake. There's something horribly wrong with your design. And it's not just something cosmetic — a badly resolved corner, some misspaced type — but a fundamental flaw that will almost certainly lead to catastrophic failure. And that failure will result not just in embarassment, or professional ruin, but death, the death of thousands of people.
