James Brown at B.B. Kings in New York on Friday night. Big semi-crazed shows, what they used to call revues, like the one Brown brought to town are fast becoming a lost art. The band featured three horns, three drummers, four female backup singers called Bittersweet (two black, two white) and four guitar players all of whom were killer and all of whom played in widely diverse styles.

Thoughts on Bel Canto/Direct selling

Hi,

I just noticed Bel Canto has started selling direct with a 30 day money back deal. I am not associated, or even own any of their equipment (but the new DAC3 with USB looks interesting...). It seems they still have a dealer network, although not in my city.

Is direct selling a good thing, a bad thing...is it a sign of a company going downhill?? It seems to me that many companies in other industries have pissed off their distributors/dealers, only to fall flat on their face.

Gavin.

Has anyone had a chance to audition the Sophia 2 and compare it with the original Sophia (which I have)? Any observations of audible differences? I probably won't get to make that comparison and "upgrading" to the tune of $4-5,000 without clearcut gains seems costly.

Belt buckle? Jimminy Christmas, Sweet Couture is selling cassette tape belt buckles. It's $10 for a "We pick," $15 for your favorite brand. They don't offer my fave, the TDK-MAXG, however—which is a shame, because $15 wouldn't be an unreasonable price for one of those bad boys.
