record player running slow

I hope this is the right spot to ask this, found this forum via Google trying to find help for my record player..

My mother bought me one of those Nostalgic players, and it used to run great, now I noticed that the player is running a little slower.. For example, 33rpm is about 30rpm, and it's noticeable.. If I select 45rpm, it's about 42rpm, and if I select 78rpm, it's about 75rpm...

How can I go about fixing this? The unit is not even a year old, but is passed it's warranty.

Thanks..

PS: I checked the belt, and it has enough tension.

Watching the Electrons Flow

Watching the Electrons Flow

Japanese physicists have built a bi-directional single-electron ammeter that can detect individual electrons flowing either forwards or backwards. Practical applications might include nanoelectronics, calibration devices, quantum computation, and biology. That banging noise you hear is John Atkinson in Sioux Falls pounding his head against the desk, muttering "Want one!"

New equipment advice

Forums

It has been a few (15 or so) years since I last acquired any new stereo items. I am looking to downsize and simplify my system. Vinyl and CDs is what I'll be listening to. Several of the integrated amps (Creek, Music Hall & others)that I've looked have no balance, treble or bass adjustments. Is this a new trend? Have industry standards changed?

Headphone amp question

Forums

I just picked up a pair of Sony MDR-V700 headphones. Before anyone yelps at me I did get them brand new for $75 after tax and shipping which makes them a decent set for that price, quite obviously not worth the $150 msrp. Anyway, these are 24 ohm cans and I was wondering if I should get an amp to go with them. I've been plugging them into my receiver at home but at work I use my creative zen sleek and am looking at getting some higher quality but still portability. Of course, if I should have one at home as well I'll change my attitude towards the portability.

This One's For Jeff

Half the time when I'm talking about music with my friend Jeff Wong, mention of some album will elicit the response, "I got turned on that when Elvis Costello covered/mentioned that." Okay Jeff, here are 500 records recommended by EC—how many do you know?

Good Sound Card for Sequoia etc. and PC/MAC x86

Hi there. I am thinking about buying a good soundcard for my PC, to use mainly with Sequoia. At the moment I have a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS, which is good for very basic things. But for instance, in Sequoia, I can use it with 32 bit of internal resolution and only 16 bit of device resolution/driver communication.

I am thinking about M-Audio Delta 1010LT as my future Sound Card.
But I would like to know your opinion about it, before buying it.

One of those "good moments."

Aloha,

Today was one of those Hi Fi days that are too uncommon.

About 18 months ago, I developed a "capacitor" smear in my right tweeter/mid panels on my speakers.

Did all the permutations of changing things, and even when I switched amps, the smear stayed on the right. I didn't think to switch channels because I changed amps (same model, same age), so how could the problem be the amp if both did it?

Big Mike put nice new caps in both my speakers, and voila! The problem stayed.

dynaudio bm 5 passive

Forums

anyone have any listening experience with this studio monitor ?????

looks similar in size to the dynaudio focus 140 with probably the same
drive units and a less fancy cabinet- no veneer (but probably just as sturdy)

the cost though is about half that of the focus 140

just wondering if this is a viable alternative as my listening distance is
only going to be about 8 to 9 feet at most and maybe a little closer
in the future (small living room - big furniture)

thanks for any help or replies
