Mark Fleischmann's Blog

Over at <I>Home Theater</I>'s website, Fleischmann's arch blend of understatement and geekiness is the sort of stuff I wish I could write consistently. A recommended daily read. Yes, I know him, and yes, I share an employer with him, but this encomium comes from the heart.

what speakers should I get?

Forums

I recently acquired a Kenwood KA-8006 amp. It is rated at 200 watts. This amp dates back to the mid 70's. My question for you knowledgable folks is, what kind of speakers should I get to match it? Clarity and quality are extremely important to me, but I am no audiophile. It is also very important to me that these speaker can ROCK a party. I need some serious volume and bass. So, what speakers should I get?

I'm putting my new turntable system together (thanks to all to gave me great advice in my previous post) and I need some cartridge advice. My last turntable was a JVC AL-L2OR with linear tracking and my new table (hooray) is a used Rega P5 with an RB700 arm, needless to say I have quite a bit of catching up to do and alot of questions to ask.

NHT "Regularizes" Its M-00!

Audio professionals and "prosumers" with home studios have long sung the praises of NHT's compact powered monitor, the M-00 (affectionately called "the moo"); powered subwoofer, the S-00 (don't make us say it); and passive volume control, the PVC (a JA favorite). Until July 18, however, these products were only available at studio suppliers and professional audio sales centers. NHT, acceding to "growing demand and an evolving market," will now allow its specialty audio dealer network to offer the formerly Pro products to their clientele as part of NHT's PC Hi-Fi line.
