Tara, CAST, and the ASR EMT Integrated

The recent hooha on Tara (along with its inconclusive conclusion) begs a few questions about interconnecting cables. I can understand Michael's wanting to begin the cable auditioning process with the preamp-to-phono preamp connection -- the phono preamp, as my tiny brain understands the situation, is asked to perform a more delicate task than other links in the chain.

Kiwi!

Kiwi!

Judging from the number of times I've been sent this animated short, it must be the most viral thing on YouTube lately. I can see why: It's great story-telling and it thrills me while leaving a smile on my face and a lump in my throat.

M-Audio Fast Track Pro

So I picked one of these up the other day to convert some LP's and do other various recording tasks, I was blown away at how good it sounded, especially the headphone jack. It also is plug and play in both windows and mac, when I opened adobe audition it automatically saw the device and was ready to go. Anyone else try one of these?

Too much time in the car...

Hola,

Friday afternoon I drove from here up to Reno - not that far; but there's no radio coverage, and even though I bring discs, sometimes picking your own music lacks that certain "je ne se qua" of being surprised by the next song.

So, lots of time to think about Hi Fi. Late that night, I got to the place where I was going to stay - no power.

More time to think during the long cold night.

Driving home last night...BLAM!...rock falls onto desolate two lane highway along the deep and dark shores of Walker Lake.
