Vinyl to CD Recording - Need help

Hello all,

My father is looking to record his large vinyl record collection onto CDs. He is not much of a technophile, so I wanted to get some advice on the types of recorders out there.

Is there a simple to use device out there that can directly copy a record to a CD (i.e. bypassing a PC)?

Cost is not really a problem, but user friendliness and sound quality are.

Thank you for your help!

Best speakers for Denon 55w x 5 receiver

Forums

Recently blew my JBL bookshelf speakers and was considering using the opportunity to upgrade (Polk Monitor 60s?), but I'm not quite ready to buy a new receiver (have a Denon AVR-1100 rated 55w x 5...unfortunately I'm not sure what it pushes out in stereo mode). I've read through the other posts on bookshelf recommendations, etc, but any particular suggestions given the limitations of my receiver? Bookshelf w/ powered sub? Suck it up and get a more powerful receiver?

Your thoughts are appreciated.

I think this would sound phenomenal. My only reservation is the size of my room, and I'm afraid that I won't be able to fully appreciate what I may be buying.
My couch is about 6' from where the Vandies will be set up. Ceiling is about 10' high, and there's probably 20' out to the side of each speaker. There's no other way to set 'em up.

Oh, and the speakers will be only about 5-8" from my 42" LCD. What about the no magnetic shielding issue?

Any thoughts/comments are greatly appreciated.

NYC Manhattan Repair?

I am having my B&W CM4 Speakers repaired. The B&W manufacture told me that it looks like there is "DC offset" coming off my receiver which is a Nakamichi AV10 that caused the speaker damage. I was told it takes ten minutes to check the reciever, or that I could do it with a voltage meter. I do not have one so I was wondering if anyone knew anywhere in Manhattan to take in Nakamichi products or anywhere like that where I could bring it in. Thanks.

Sean
