New To Tubes

Forums

Hi, I have always been a solid state guy, but also fascinated by the glow of tubes. I have been curious enough that I finally broke down and ordered a cheap Val E10 headphone amp to go with a new AKG K701 headphone I just ordered. new Benchmark DAC1 with USB input

check it out here: http://www.benchmarkmedia.com/press/

Described as a "Native 96-kHz 24-bit 'Advanced USB Audio'". Any chance we will get a follow up for this product that Stereophile has raved about so much?

To me the big question is whether the USB port is for convience only or if it is an improvement on the standard DAC1 when using USB direct. Or is it as reported with the Grace unit, where the using the USB was not recommended?
