Toxoplasma gondii

Try to wrap your mind around the stats involving Toxoplasma gondii. The parasite makes rats seek cats, but is it also altering the cultures of entire nations? Skewing the sex ratios of affected populations? Doubling the chances of traffic accidents?

Further damping of CD player transport, advice needed

Hi to you all,

I succefully repaird a Thule CD 150B player with a new philips 12.4 transport (thanks to the kind suggestion of another forum member).
Given the components of the player (cf picture from the simular but non balanced Thule cd 100) it's rather sensitive to shocks etc. but it sounds great.
I would like to know if there are (besides the 3M resonance absorbing foils i've used already in the casing) ways to improve further the stability of the transport itself.

thanks

Cherished recording available on CD?

My father once gave me a record of the LvB Violin Concerto played by Alfredo Campoli with the RPO conducted by John Pritchard (HMV Concert Classics SXLP 20043). Campoli's playing is quite beautiful but I suppose this disc has more sentimental value than anything. It was one of his favourites and I remember him playing it (loudly!) on Sunday mornings from when I was very small.

why do so many

I stumbled upon this while reading PF and I couldn't help but compare this to the great religeous schism, that broke apart the Roman Catholic Church.Looking at it this way, anyone who even remotely adheres to any of Belt's philosophy is fair game to be burned at the stake by those of the one true faith, let's call them the scientists for want of better terminology. But aren't scientists supposed to have inquiring minds that are open to new discoveries?
