My last request for help was graciously answered, and now I need to know the best or safest way to get cat hair, dander, and probably other dust out of the inside of my receiver. The nearest authorized service dealer is hundreds of miles away, and I'll ship if that's the best option. I work out of town during the week, so I can't easily look to see if I'm still in the warranty period (you know, opening the cover and voiding the warranty . . .). The unit is about 6 years old.

While browsing the Stones CD collection at my local HMV, I noticed that a lot of them are available as Japanese digipack imports, on the ABKO label
the series is called 'Rolling Stones in the 60's.

The price is what got me, 3-5X the domestic! Outrageous!
I asked a clerk if there was a difference in audio quality, and she said , yes, the Japanese imports are usually mastered at 24 bits while the domestic are mastered at 16 bits??

Aloha.
Zen Hi Fi Koan day, plus a break in the action at work.
So, Big Mike and I were at a Los Angeles Hi Fi salon (I forget the name, but they carried Chario speakers) back in 1992 and there was this guy listening to a pair of N.E.A.R. speakers.
I sat down on the listening couch as he listened and asked him how he liked what he heard.
"Pretty great," he said.
I asked, "Does it bother you that only one speaker is working?"
He said, "No way!"
He jumped up, and sure enough, only the left channel was working.
Me thinks the smoke and BS is becoming a bit much. Read this descrition of this weeks breakthrough in digital playback. It's so fine, it needs no error correction!!! Huh? then it's not palying anything of teh SACD/CD standards is it? Cus teh error correction is part of the standards from Philips. I thinks they need to rewrite their copy, cus' they is talking some real crap now. Last week the Marantz was THE playback of teh moment. Now it's this one.
