Musical Fidelity A5 or Krell KAV400xi

Forums

I'm looking to make my first purchase of a high-end amp. After auditioning an NAD C372, and not being overly impressed, compared to what I have(Onkyo 100W reciever), I decided to take the next step up, and I've narrowed it down to the Krell KAV400xi, and the M.F. A5. One of my local dealers carries M.F. The Krell would be bought based on good reviews I've read. They both cost the same, so price is not an issue. I'm leaning more towards the Krell, because I would like to buy a product made in the USA. I'm not sure that will make it sound better, but....

One for the good guys

2-channel is dead? Well, for some maybe, but for others it still is alive and kicking. That includes me.

So my ever kind wife, Diane, desides to stage a tag/garage sale to help the youth at church raise money for summer camp. A noble undertaking.

A developer/realtor cloose friend of ours donates a partially used strip-mall parking lot for the event. Diane sells 30 spaces for $10 each and with the youth selling hotdogs, hamburgers, and soda they did pretty well for almost no work. The place is packed all day.

Harman International To Be Acquired by Goldman Sachs and KKR for $8 Billion

Harman International To Be Acquired by Goldman Sachs and KKR for $8 Billion

Harman International Industries, Inc has agreed to be acquired by Goldman Sachs Capital Partners (GSCP) and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR) for a price of $120 per share (a total near $8 billion). The share price represents what Bloomberg.com characterized as a 17% premium over its price one day earlier. The company's stock had been increasing in value, having risen by about 2.6% since the beginning of 2007, but beginning April 18, the stock began to surge, "indicating some investors anticipated the buyout," according to Bloomberg. John Rogers, a Citigroup analyst, had predicted in February that Harman was choice for acquisition, estimating that private equity buyers could pay a premium of 20% over its share price and still see annual returns of 20%.

Audio using APPLE TV

Its ironic, but I am actually finding myself using the APPLE TV more as a music player than as a video server.
I always wanted to connect an IPOD to my Sound system to improve the sound over the small IPOD docking sound systems.
I have the APPLE TV connect thru the TOSLINK output and a HDMI switcher so I can switch to the TV thru the HDMI output.

STEVE HOFFMAN + CONTINUUM = VINYL HEAVEN!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ATLANTA, GA April 27 2005 Warner Brothers records with Rhino/Reprise recently announced that they have hired Steve Hoffman, one of the world's most revered mastering engineers, to undertake the most ambitious vinyl reissue program of any major label in recent history. Steve will be mastering with cutter Kevin Gray at Kevin's AcousTech Mastering and records will be pressed on 180 gram virgin vinyl at RTI - all are being cut in true analog from original Warner Brothers/Reprise stereo master mixes - some of which have been untouched for 35 years.

So what demo discs are you bringing to the show?

Unless you want to hear a steady diet of Ella, Norah, and Sarah you've got to bring your own tunes to the HE show. But what to bring, that's the question. Do you cleverly go for a "room clearing" selection like Nine Inch Nails so you can grab the sweet spot to dig some Brubeck in the now empty room? Do you bring something self-consciously hip like Sufjan Stevens to show off to your audio peers? How about some trash that will probably get you thrown out of the room yourself like Southern Culture on the Skids?
