looking for victrola style stereo cabinet

Hello.

A few years ago, I purchased a cool stereo rack with a flip-up victrola style top. This was perfect for me since I had a turntable.

The rack was damaged and had to be discarded. I am desperately looking for another stereo rack like this, and cannot find one anywhere. Can anyone recommend a site that has this kind of rack? I have seen the kind that come with a built in stereo system or a turntable with a victrola style top, but I need just the empty stereo rack.

According to market research company NPD Group, in the first quarter of 2007, Apple's iTunes Store has overtaken Amazon.com and Target to become the US's third largest music retailer with 9.8% of all music sales. Apple counts 12 track sales as equivalent to one CD sale, meaning that the company is responsible for nearly 21 million of the quarter's 212 million CD sales.

Considering a PS3 with Yellow Dog Linux installed (terrasoftsolutions.com). Price right: fast linux workstation using IBM Cell, blu-ray disc player, & game console. But the output must be hooked up either with HDMI cable or DVI cable. The proffered advantage of HDMI is that it bundles audio and video into HDTV, whatever. O.K.--but what I really want is to get the audio signal over to my power amp. Does anyone have experience with this? SONY STYLE "thought" I could take the sound out from the HDTV. This is too many steps, I think.

This seems like a good place to start. When you are deciding on a new CD player, amp, speakers, etc., how do you decide what to listen to first? Of course, the final decision will be made after listening, but there can be so many choices, especially in the <2K range. For example, how much emphasis do you put on:

1 Reviews
2 Recomendations (forums, etc.)
3 Specifications
4 Same brand as amp, turntable,... (do components of the same brand generally "work better" together, is it easier to get them to work well together?)
5 Upgradeability

I just watched the PS Audio's "From Coal to Coltrane" DVD and it got me wondering: Why are Stereophile editors on a manufacturer's promotional DVD? What is up with that? This is not an educational DVD, this is promotional material and Paul McGowan makes no bones about it. I can't fathom how there could be an even more blatant conflict of interest except perhaps MF soliciting hi-fi manufacturers to advertise on his web site. I'm truly appalled.

The old saw about "the first album was their best" is often true, truer than most artists want to admit. And no where in music is that state more widespread than with singer/songwriters who only have a guitar, their voice and their material and no band to hide behind. Trying to hack out a career as a solo act is a bitch. Takes guts or overweening ego to get through it. Most soloists fall prey to the natural reaction which is to pour all their best ideas into the first project. That's cool until you're faced with coming up with a second and perhaps a third record. Yet sometimes the process can reverse itself, and after a fallow period a songwriter can recharge, again have something to say, and they come through with a late season masterpiece.

Hi Everyone!! this is the first time I post here, but have been following the forums for quite sometime now. I have learned a lot from old posts making a lot easier making decisions when buying gear!! I have just ordered a pair of B&W 703 and am about to order from a different dealer cables as well. However, since I don't live in the US, it can become very expensive If I order something wrong. I live in Brazil.

Hi everyone.
Please help.
I have recently acquired a TEAC A-2050 tape player.
From what I know, its a pretty standard, consumer level, 1/4" tape recorder.
I have a stash of Ampex 406 Audio Mastering Tapes which I attempted to use in this player.
When record enabled, the audio path and VU meters lead me to believe I am recording. However, when I playback what I tried to record, I hear it VERY faintly.
First of all, am I using the right kind of tape?
Can anybody shed some light on tape types and formats?
