Hi, I am new to Stereophile forums, but about 20 years with this excellent publication. Maybe it is the time, after many years and component changes to replace the Kimber 8TC double runs (bi wire). My budget is max $2500. Any insights? I am looking for the most transparent and uncolored cable this money can get me. I am considering: Analysis plus big silver oval 9 (bi-wire,) Cardas Golden Reference (single), Kimber 30333 (s), Shunyata Research Andromeda (s), Synergistic Research B&W spec 8. Has any body experience with theses cables at analogous systems? Suggestions?
I'm looking for a good int. amp match for my PSB T8's. I currently use a Creek 5350se in a small room and it has already timed out on me so I'm thinking more power. I have in mind the NAD M3 or the Unico SE as possibles but any comments would be appreciated. BTW I'm planning on moving to a larger room in the near future.
I have a Harmon Kardon Citation 17 Pre-Amp, paired with a Citation 16 Power Amp. I would like to connect it to two sets of speakers, through the pre-amp, allowing me to switch between the two sets or use both. The problem I have is I do not own the cable that connects the power amp speaker outputs, to the 5 pin plug connector in the pre-amp. Does anyone know where to get the type of cables from?
I visited my local hi-fi dealer this weekend to let him know how happy I am with my system and see what was new. I asked him about people that come loaded with "specs" and he laughed. I told him that for me the only thing that was important was sound not specs. We went into the listening room and he played me two different systems and asked me which one , in my opinion, sounded better. After listening and switching back in forth I told him that as far as I was concerned system B sounded a lot richer and had more depth (they were both using the same B&W speakers).
Getting conflicting info on this:
1. can I replace the internal drive with my own? Olive says no as they need to "specially" interface it with the motherboard. Yeah, right! They provide a recovery CD so I imagine it's as simlpe as formatting it and running the CD.
2. can I add any external USB drive? Olive says it must be their own.
3. if adding an external drive, Olive says it must be accessed "separately". What does this mean? Will my entire collection not appear as one in their software?
Hi
I just bought 2nd and "Paradigm Reference Studio 100 "
I found out that I don't have enough power to drive them.
I have an option to buy ROTEL RB-1080.
Is it a good choice for these speakers?
The budget is ~1000USD
I would be happey to receive information on othere Power amp which can be good for my speakers, so I can be more focused.
Thakns
