Just discovered that Apple lossless file (burnt from a Mac to a CD-R at 1X) sounds compressed (at all higher frequencies, and lost of 'ambience') when compared to any faithful AIFF files that is closest to the original music from a CD. Does anyone have the same experience ?

How to solve the storage problem if I have to store every music copies as AIFF files and not Apple Lossless files any more ?

I'm posting this question here because I don't see where else on this board to ask the question. To wit:

I have a system that suits my needs for (in my case) serious listening (tuner, amp, turntable, cassette, reel-to-reel, CD changer w/mp3/wma, aux, iTunes-via-airport, direct PC input, 4.1 and 5.1 amp/speaker support, multi-output 8 ohm, etc.).

Now I would like to install a "whole house" background system. I have everything I need, EXCEPT the basic system.

Just wanted to give a shout out to Wes for keeping us up to date on the web radio debacle. I enjoy being updated at this site and appreciate you keeping a close eye on this topic.

i have a california audio labs sigma 2 and am looking to switch transports. i'm considering a california audio labs delta or a rotel rcd-1072. has anyone heard these two. can anybody offer any advise to which one would be better? thank you
