Guitar Related Question

I know this isn't completely appropriate for this forum, but I have a feeling many people will have an answer here.

I've been wanting to change the type of guitar strings I use for a long time, but never really had a reason why. I've used D'Addario .095s on a '99 American Fender Stratocaster for the longest time, and I'm ready to switch but I dont know the differences between strings.

Can anyone tell me why I should leave D'Addario, choose another? Ernie Ball? etc.? I can of course try it out, but I want to hear an opinion to steer decision-making process a little.

Surprised by good sound of Teac CD recorder

Per a previous topic, I bought a Teac CD recorder (model TECDRW880), mostly for making CD-R backups from my LP's and cassettes. Goodness, I think it is sounding better as a CD player than my Marantz bargain-audiophile one (several years old, model 63-SE or something like that) or a Sony SACD player when used on CD's. Could this modest $300 CD Recorder with no high-end cred really be superior? - it is newer than my other stuff, though it's been on the market for quite a while.
