B&W 703 vs. JL Lab 836

Forums

Have 2 parts of my query:
1. How do we differentiate between these two speakers - (want to use mostly for HT)? I think price wise these are almost same though.
2. Compared to Klipsh Reference RF62, will these sound brighter or clearer or sweeter or overall much better in terms of details and soundstaging?
Finally, can B&W 703 and/or JL Lab 836 run using a mid quality Pioneer, or absolutely need a Rotel 1000 series?
Will appreciate your input very much...

Getting Started

So I am looking to start expanding this as a hobby. I am looking to begin with a set of three front speakers. I have inherited a descent Polk sub and acceptable polk bookshelfs (sutible for surrounds) so I immediately was drawn to products from that company. I was wondering if in an apartment (not tiny but not enormous) would the RTi A6 series be over kill and a waste of money as compared to the A4? And the similar question as to the center channel. Finally I have a friend who is a stereophile recommend the PSB Alpha B1 series.

to build or to buy

hi
i tried researching most i can and been wondering about a question "
what would provide better sound quality for a cheap system $350 max for now like a pair of bookshelf speakers would it be better if i made my own and put quality parts in? or bought something like polk or infiniti
it would be hooked up to a normal stereo and probly would slowly upgrade the stystem to bigger and better i had a reciever and stuff but they got lost/stolen.
