Ive had a desire for a while now to hook up a very high qulity pro audio amplifier with a good CD and speakers and see what the result is.
Well today I hooked up a Quad CDP with a Crown CTS 3000 and my VR3's, the result sounds absolutely fantastic. The soundstage is awesome and the bass is incredible, i need to do further listening to determine all facets of the sound but ive got no doubt that the Crown amp has woken up my system like no hifi amp ive ever heard.
Hey all,
I've got the opportunity to acquire a pair of Kef 104/2's for a very good price.
I will listen to them tomorrow, and I'm wondering for those of you with experience with these speakers, what things should I look out for during the audition?
Some concerns:
1. Ferrofluid tweeters may need to be replaced as the fluid is now gel after 20 years.
2. Woofer surrounds and crossover. How do I check the crossover?
The speakers were made in the late '80s.
I tried hooking my stereo receiver (about 15 years old but working great) to one 6" sub speaker. I connected the positives of both speaker wire outs and both of the negivatives of the speakers out and connected the positives to one side of the speaker and the negitives to the other side of the speaker. It seamed to work, but as I turned up the volume I heard a pop and then my receiver died and now it won't power on.
So, what could this be. I'd like to know so I can buy a replacement part for it cause I really like it.
I use blackberry
This is a fantastic source not only an entry level
You can easy demostrate this in this way:
Connect by usb interface to a teac wap 5000
Then it's all to connect to your amplifier with a quality notnoted to all
But not only
If you connect the optical out to a quality external dac as an harmony costing 600 euro you got mp3 at quality level of a 1500 euro cd player running with the original cd player
Not only
