So, I think that I just made a stupid (and possibly expensive) mistake. I listened to several integrated amps to pair with Thiel CS 1.6 speakers, but was not terribly excited by any option in my price range (~$1,000). I ended up purchasing the Arcam DiVA A70. After getting home and reading the Arcam handbook, I realized that I cannot pair the Thiels with a subwoofer, because the Arcam can only handle one pair of speakers if they are less than 8 ohms (the Thiels are 4 ohms).
I'm currently searching for a AMP/Crossover (???) to drive a sub.
The sub is a car woofer I bought when I was 19. I used it for a couple weeks. Otherwise it's been sitting for years.
It's a MTX Thunder 8000 DVC 4ohm 12" I put it in a box and plugged it in and of course it sound great. Wired it up in series and ran it through a old JVC crossover. I'd use it, however, it doesn't drown out mid/high very well.
My next step is go find a crossover and AMP to drive it.
HI, I'm new to this site and thought that this would be the place to ask. I have a Rega Brio amplifier with Rega Jura speakers and an old 80's Acoustic Research turntable. I use some not so high end (but decent enough) Analysis Plus Inc Clear Oval speaker wires.
Anyway the problem is that when the amplifier is touched, tapped, bumped and sometimes on it's own, it will emit a loud deep humming sound that gets progressively louder through the speakers until I give it a tap with my finger. Any suggestions on what this could be?
they new that decades ago....why now is 28 Watts hi fidelity? When it's grossly under powered nonsense. http://www.soundcraftsmen.com/Audio_12_90.jpg
I use blackberry
This is a fantastic source not only an entry level
You can easy demostrate this in this way:
Connect by usb interface to a teac wap 5000
Then it's all to connect to your amplifier with a quality notnoted to all
But not only
If you connect the optical out to a quality external dac as an harmony costing 600 euro you got mp3 at quality level of a 1500 euro cd player running with the original cd player
Not only
Ive had a desire for a while now to hook up a very high qulity pro audio amplifier with a good CD and speakers and see what the result is.
Well today I hooked up a Quad CDP with a Crown CTS 3000 and my VR3's, the result sounds absolutely fantastic. The soundstage is awesome and the bass is incredible, i need to do further listening to determine all facets of the sound but ive got no doubt that the Crown amp has woken up my system like no hifi amp ive ever heard.
