I am upgrading my system for the fist time in many many years. I am looking at integrated amps with DAC built in as my two main sources are a Linn LP12 (MM cartridge) and uncompressed Wav files from a minimac with optical output.
The Naim and the Bryston are both good brands and their integrated amps (with Dac) have good reviews. Has anyone compared these from a vinyl/digital perspective? Are their any alternatives I should consider?
Hi
The whole MM MC voltage output and loading thing is a little confusing when first encountered. It appears as if you have to not only match the input voltage but also the input impedance of the phone stage to the cartridge.
Im sure this has come up numerous times, could someone point me towards a good article or narrative on the subject please.
Thanks
Alan
Hi all im new to the forum and somewhat new to vinyl. I purchased a Thorens 166 MK II without the anti skating device. My question is can i rig one up, or do i need to track the real deal down? The only problem it is causing so far is that when i drop the needle it seems to "take off" in other words it jumps to the flat edge of the record. Thanks in advance for any advice

REAL MUSICANS don't play weddings!!! Then I don't know any accordian players or tumpet players. www.mattoree.com![]()
DUP, it can also be said that real musicians don't play the Lion's Den.
Now, this special oil is for tight tolerances, provides lubrication...hmmmm, the stuff that is $6 or $1.25/QT is designed for what? Hmmm hot engines, severe stress, all kinds of conditions, $65 for 25CC, what won't an audiophile not beleive? Bentleys, Audi, VW, BMW, Bugatti ain't got oils this pricey!!!! We need an audio review, compare the $100K TT at MF's house using this oil and the cheap stuff that goes into pricey cars.
Niel has long been a curmudgeon regarding the sound of digital audio, but has come to accept 24-bit/192kHz as "good enough". He has just released a comprehensive anthology of his work on Blu-Ray and a very interesting article on this release is available here. Be sure to watch the video! I'm posting this in the "Rants and Raves" forum because the message here is about a very exciting new format for the distribution of recorded music.
