Cars rate energy use as miles per gallon (MPG), but what about audio equipment? Reader "wook" wants to know: "Would you like <I>Stereophile</I>'s reviews to include power-draw measurements?"

Harman, will it stay on course of excellence?

With the new guy in charge, Harman International has had some run of excellence over the years, they really have some of the greatest brands under their control, and they didn't ruin any of em. Many actually got better, and sustained their inovative plans. AKG and Crown just keep on being great.....AKG makes some great stuff. D&M is gonna be moving on up...to battle it out on pro stuff? Harman has had a big head start, D&M is a newbie, in the game. Wonder why Philips didn't expand it all instead of selling it all off.

What brilliant line of BS....and the price!!! More brilliance. What device that uses an IEC 15A or less connector needs to have 7ga. wire to deliver the required voltage and current....and they cover it in CLOTH....modern materials science has developed wire coverings and insulations that got rid of 1930's 1920's cloth covered wires!!! When does the nonsense stop? I bet....the cloth SOUNDS better....riiiiight? 7ga wire onto a CD player, oh yeah.....I don't have 7 ga wire feeding my electric water heater, and that can cook some water, ya really need 7ga for home audio? In anything?

Yeah, that's why modern DIGITAL is well, up to date. Cheaper, smaller better. The recorders where bigger than the screens to view, now the screens are larger than the recorders, the way it should be. It applys to audio also. http://www.ev1.pair.com/colorTV/TVtape1.html

Just curious whether anyone here has this pre (&/or the matching 840W power amp). I can't find out much about these models online--everything I've found so far is basically the same thing--a quote of the manufacturer's blurb. I own a 540R v2 receiver, & want to change to separates (w/in a budget) over the next 6 months or so. I do really like Cambridge products.
Or buying CORN based audio products? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080622/ap_o...F9I.pkAATFv24cA
LP's are oil based, what about the stuff CORN based....ain't audio grade FEET based on CORN? Corn feeds the cattle which produce a lot if not all the BS in audio........
