Hi! I recently posted asking for advice about a system. I got a good deal on a pair of martin logan fresco i speakers a dynamo bass and a vignette speaker (both also martin logan) I am planning on using the vignette as a center speaker below the plasma and the two frescos on the sides. Can somebody recommended me the best possible amp or ht receiver? I said before that my budget was $2,000 but i am willing to go up to $3,000 if it can make a difference on performance. Also can somebody recommend me a some good cables.
In my opinion one of the best bands of the fusion era was Return To Forever. Chick Corea, Al DiMeola, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White were together what a lot of people refer to the "Beatles of Jazz". The first album I ever heard from them was Romantic Warrior which to this today is always in heavy rotation for me.
What a find. I never knew that this place existed all this time I've lived in Upper West Side in NYC. (It's located on 72nd St. & Broadway; to the west of Broadway.) Perfect little gem of a used LP store. I couldn't believe how many records were packed into such a small space! They mainly do classical and jazz, very little or no rock. But for classical, at least, their selection was on par or better than Academy Records near Union Square. They had a VPI 17.5 there, and I suspect they do a pretty good job cleaning their records.
I'm trying to build a sub-$3000 system (not including Subwoofer) and would appreciate comments on the setup and suggestions. I'll start off by saying that I live in Hong Kong.
The system should be expected to run PS3 Blue-Ray movies, Media Center movies (Surround, sadly by Creative Labs's Xi-Fi and their horrible analog surround setup), and play music from both CD player (computer) or collection (MP3s, WMAs).
I currently have a small living room (a 10x13 feet space within a 10x18 room), but am expecting to be using this system in a larger setting in the future.
I wasn't sure if any of you local Stereophile folks would be interested but Polk Audio is hosting the annual Polkfest at the HQ in Baltimore, MD this year.
This is our 7th year of having a forum member organized event and only the second time that Polk has opened the doors to the membership and beyond. The following day is a celebration of all things audio related, from tubes to tube traps and more.
Here's a link to the information page:
Clearly many of you are spending bucks on your turntables these days. How about vinyl records to feed them? Have you spent any money on vinyl LPs in the last 12 months? What did you buy?
I would like to suggest the "General Rants N' Raves" forum be divided in to the "General" and the "Rants N' Raves" category's, for obvious reasons.
