PB13 review

I read the PB13 review by Larry Greenhill and would like to comment on the review. First of all, they claimed the specs wrong. The driver has a 3'' excursion capability, not 2'' claimed in the review.

How is the PB13 95lbs lighter than the REL when there is only 50lbs difference? (205-155=50)

The reviewer compared the PB13 to dual JL f113s and claimed the JLs produced deeper soundstage. Isn't that unfair since dual subs will almost alway give a deeper soundstage?

Have you used an after-market component-modification shop to improve standard high-end gear? If you have, have you been satisfied or not? Why?

Lennie Niehaus Volume 1-The Quintets

Forums

This is Lennie's first album and with 3 sax players, bass, piano, drums and trumpet support this album swings and is extremely tight. None of the tracks are very long and the CD itself is only 39:13 in length but after listening to just a few tracks you will find yourself saying out loud "whew" ! This album was recorded in LA in 1954 right after Lennie got out of the Army and the melodies will have you snapping your fingers to keep the beat. The recording is pristine, clean and does not sound overly digital on my Arcam Solo.

A hidden funky gem "Herbie Hancock Fat Albert Rotunda

Forums

I came across this CD recently on iTunes and decided to take a chance and purchase the CD and I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised. This is a funky 70's sounding CD that has some great mixing and sounds surprisingly good so much in fact that I had to turn up my audio equipment twice.

Iron & Wine

Anyone else a fan of these guy? If you like acoustic/folk with some bluegrass influence, you should definitely check this out. "Our Endless Numbered Days" and "Shepherd's Dog" are both excellent albums. Both of them, I think are "must own" in-print LPs.

The two LPs are quite a bit different, with "Endless" consisting almost exclusively of Sam's guitar and his mellow, almost whisper-like vocals. The second album introduces more genre-bending sections and instruments.

Both of the albums are probably my top two favorites to "chill out" to.
