In the December "As We See It" article, AD bemoans the lack "un-stupid-looking, high-efficiency speakers"... Art, have you ever heard of Paul W. Klipsch? If so, you may even recall that he started a little speaker company down in Hope, Arkansas about sixty years ago or so. And Klipsch LLC still seems to be doing pretty well for itself, as far as I can tell, and if you are really interested in normal looking horn speakers, you ought to check them out.
I got my December issue yesterday and I read Art Dudley's column, as I usually do. The first part of his column talks about him walking in the woods, raising a rock and finding a few small, bald men arguing over the proper equipment to use when listening to 78 records. They spouted minutia, argued over the needle width and the grooves, tried to outdo each other with their deep knowledge of meaningless, esoteric trivia. They foamed at the mouth, hissed and fumed over useless nonsense as they continued to argue their irrelevant arguments.

But I'm not getting my hopes quite yet. There's got to be a caveat or two or thirty. Kal, what do you think?
Hello. I want to convert my LP's to digital format and was wondering what the best equipment is to use for someone who doesn't have access to Fort Knox. I understand I need a turntable and preamp. I believe that paying for better cables would be an asset. Does it matter if I use my integrated audio chip or would I be better off getting a dedicated audio card? If someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.
Hello,
I am a newbie to the world of Hi-Fi but would like to learn more. Can anybody give me suggestions on where to look for more information? Specifically, I would like to gain just some general knowledge on the differences between amps/pre-amps/tube vs. solid state, and how to select them (I know it's partially about taste). I am interested in upgrading my receiver for my turntable which is a Rega P3-- right now it's just running off of a cheap Yamaha receiver I picked up for a couple hundred bucks back in 04.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
Lost ...
A small boy was lost at a large shopping mall.
He approached a uniformed policeman and said, "I've lost my grandpa!"
"The cop asked, "What's he like?"
The little boy hesitated for a moment and then replied,
"Crown Royal whiskey and women with big tits."
