It's the Song I Hate

On Sonic Youth's 1992 album, Dirty, there is a song called "Youth Against Fascism," in which Thurston Moore lists a series of difficult political themes (racial violence, a poor economy, a lousy president, etc.) and follows each item with the refrain:

Time with the new "Mini Hills" from Ferguson Hill.

Forums

Hola,

Got to spend some time with the new Mini HIlls...Ferguson Hill FH007/8.

It's a three way system with an active woofer and seperate tweeter/mid enclosures. The tweeters are similar to their big brothers, the FH001, in that they are open baffle - which kind of fits my own taste for planar/dipole speakers.

They come with their own little 'integrated amp,' so all they require is a source. We played with several, and they were quite accommodating.

Roksan Kandy K2 vs Rotel RA-06

Hi,

I am trying to decide which amp to match to a pair of B&W 685 speakers.

The two front runners are the ones in the title. My reading so far suggests that the Roksan is a much better all round amp than the Rotel, with better sound and higher power output.

On the other hand, the Rotel would be a good match for the B&W due to their shared production sources. Also the Rotel is about

In pursuit of audio excellence

I am one of those people who reads Stereophile from cover to cover, usally while listening to some great music. As much as I enjoy music (I have over 1500 CD's) and the great sound a great hi-fi can produce I'm not one who believes that we have to learn how to listen. Yes I can often hear new things when I pop in a Coltrane CD but it just adds to my enjoyment of music.

Gold, Silver, Gold Conectors and Reality

I have been reading a good bit of silly justification for the high price of audio gear and cables in terms of the gold or silver used in the unit. This, to be charitable, is BS. Here are some basic stats on gold and silver.

Pure gold sells at under $840 a troy ounce
Pure silver at under $11 an ounce
