I just finished purchasing all of the components for my first stereo system. Now that I have everything together my Dad and I are going to build a nice cabinet to put everything in.

Here is the order that I want to use.
(Top to Bottom)

1. Turntable (Will sit on top of the cabinet)
2. SACD/DVD-A Player
3. Cassette Deck
4. Tuner
5. Preamplifier
6. Power Amplifier
7. Power Conditioner

-The Cabinet itself will have solid side walls, possible open back, possible glass door(s)

I'm looking for recommendations for recordings of the Berg Violin Concerto. (I know this is one of Art Dudley's favorite pieces, thus the shout-out in the subject) I have the Perlman/Ozawa one, and it just doesn't grab me. The recording is typically bad 1970s DG, and Perlman doesn't sound like he actually likes the piece of music (Both Ozawa and Perlman sound much better on the other piece/flip side, which is Stravinsky's violin concerto).

I have hundreds of CDs, but nothing that is really good for putting the baby(ies, we have another daughter en route) in a relaxed mood. probably the closest thing I have to that is Getz/Gilberto... I am looking for top notch sounding "relax" "low tempo" music... can be orchestral, choral, chamber,whatever, the requirements:

down tempo, relaxing, condusive to baby "winddown" mode, great sounding....not too loud...

what do yall listen to for this purpose? the more titles and info the better!

I was in the market for an USB DAC to use with my computer and headphones. Initially, I thought that I would use my existing headphone amp, but if the USB DAC had a quality headphone amp, then all the better.

I did my usual research, but then I contacted Ethan Winer to ask if he had any suggestions. He recommended M-Audio products. I thought that those were geared for recordings. He said they are, but they're very good for playback as well.

I see that Audio Advisor has the KEF iQ9 speakers marked down from $1300 to $800. They look like they might be the speakers I want to use with my 60" Sony TV system (my 'baby' stereo system), but I have a question.

I see from the KEF website that they have been superseded by the model iq90, and I am curious what the change to the new model involves. I see no difference in the ratings, specifications, or appearance.

Does anyone know specifically what the changes to the new model were?

are there receiver/amps that have class A bias? if so are they expensive?

I recently found one of these in my parents basement. I dont know much about them. It works and its in good shape. Do these have any value??
