This is what great hi-fi is all about !

Since we are all spending a lot more time at home, myself included, I am taking time everyday to go to my audio room and listen to some music. I have to say that listening to some of my old Simon & Garfunkel, Billy Joel and Traffic CD's is like hearing them for the first time when played on a great hi-fi system. If more people knew that their CD's could sound this good high end audio would experience a true awakening, especially since you don't have to spend a lot to get great sound now.

Michael, ...Mike, (can I call you Mike?) for the love of GOD...a $3500 CD player is no more 'moderately priced' or ' modestly' priced than was the Congress's last $4700 pay raise in a recession prudent and well earned.

The average family income before taxes is only a bit more than $50K....This 'modestly' priced item costs perhaps 10% of their income after taxes! That is one hell of a lot of money to most folk.

What depression? There's nothing like a good old-fashioned listening party for lighting a fire on your savings account. Might as well spend your money now before it disappears. Turn your money into stuff. Turn your stuff into records. John DeVore should charge admission to his new listening room. Perhaps he'll accept payment in vinyl. I'd happily pay one limited edition pressing for an evening of outstanding music and fine company.

Slim Devices Transporter?

Is the Slim Devices Transporter worth the money (2000 usd)? Isn't there a cd/sacd-player that is better, in the mentioned price range? Marantz SA-15S2, Moon CD-1, NAD M5 etc.?
I want a neutral, transparent sound, with great dynamics and a lot of details. I also want a great soundstage.
Could the Slim Devices Transporter be the one for me?

Question to JA or one of the powers that be..

I remember reading about a new(ish) German Label that released primarily on vinyl(classical recordings)...can someone refresh my memory? Do they have a website? The original Stereophile mention was a couple months back...the label head said that Vinyl had more spectral information, whereas redbook had a sharp drop off....
