Hi Everyone, I'm a huge Louis fan but have trouble deciding what albums to purchase because there are just so many. I know some of them while being great in the music sense, aren't so great in the recording sense. Louis and The Good Book is a prime example of that, excellent music but not the greatest recording.
What are considered to be the best Louis Armstrong CD/SACD/XRCD discs in terms of sound quality and music?
Thanks a ton.

Worst figures since Reagan had been in office for two years.
Two years!
You have to go back to 1975 to find the next highest rate.
Who the Hell was President then?
6 years into Nixon/Ford!
Gotta go all the way back to the Great Depression if you want top Reagan's unemployment rates, and Franklin was busy cleaning up Hoover's mess.
I recently bought a Conrad-Johnson PV12 preamp to drive my Jolida JD801 as a power amp. I've been quite impressed with it in this application. The Jolida integrated works really well in this application as a power amp, and the sound is detailed, musical, and very easy to listen to.
On a lark Monday night, I was browsing Audiog and did a search for Conrad Johnson. A C-J Premier 11A power amp had just been listed and the seller was reasonably local. Today he brought it by for me to audition in my own system, and well...you can guess how that turned out...I snagged it.
Over the past few weeks I have been listening to my library of SACD's and have to say that the sound and imagery are amazing an almost like being there at the recording session. With the record business hurting so much I am not sure that I understand why there are so many titles that are NOT available on SACD and why it's not promoted more? Sure there are a LOT of titles at Amazon but some are out of print and cost close to $100 now.
I recently bought Raising Sand, the collaboration between Robert Plant and Allison Krauss, and it's, well....pretty wonderful. I can see why it won a Grammy for Album of the Year. And it's available as an LP!
If it's not a record to die for, it should be....certainly is in my book. One of the best albums I've bought all year, along with Melody Gardot's Worrisome Heart.
Along with Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" Pearl Jam's debut album "Ten" helped define a musical generation. According to the band's siteMarch 24th will see the re-release of the album in no fewer than FOUR editions. Anyone who considers themselves a Pearl Jam fan that isn't excited by the Super Deluxe Edition should check their pulse, because there is a good chance they have died and no one has bothered to notice yet:
Many good recommendations by JA and other authors refer to online downloads from HD Tracks.
I find that it makes sense as online music is probably (and sadly) the music format of the future.
However, HD tracks sells only within USA. I am in Canada and cannot get these interesting music
