Daniel Lanois, one of my favorite engineers of all time....
Hi guys,
I'm new to HiFi stuff... Classical musics, opera and vocals are all my favourites. I'm moving into a new place soon and would like to buy my first ever HiFi set. My budget is from $10-15k... I came across PSB Synchrony Speakers with Musical Fidelity A5.5... can't tell how good it sounds at that price range as I'm new to it... Any one has any comments on this combination? My other questions are:
1. How much of fraction should I put into speakers and amp
If you recognize the user-ID, then you know the problem I'm about to describe because I've been yapping about it in these forums, on and off, for *years*. I'm only in here to try again because everything I've done so far to try to fix it has resulted in just more credit-card bills.
The sound is perfect for the first twenty or thirty minutes -- always has been, and I always think I've fixed whatever's wrong -- and then, gradually, the sound becomes reedy and increasingly sibilant in the upper midrange and apparently "over-modulated" right around the midrange-tweeter crossover.
Nice review of the Meridian CD player plus the recommended buying guide. Still would like to have seen recommended systems for certain price points but still great reviews. Think maybe you can put my address on the label when you return that Meridian CD player???
