Hes the one I like. He deviates from the same reviews of classical shlock or "audiophile" cds to talk about music for real people. the blue collars. the working folks. music without pretense. no tuxedos or merlot, depth of image veils lifted bullshit.
Jason Isbell, DBT..Wilco, Spooner Oldham.Palace Brothers.. Way to go, Mr. Reina.

Since the dawn of the CD age most record companies have been busy reissuing many of their most popular titles as Deluxe Editions. These editions often include alternate versions and/or the complete recording sessions or concerts. Here are a few classic recordings which have not, as yet, gotten the Deluxe treatment.
Lou Reed - Rock 'N Roll Animal - how about a deluxe edition featuring all the material recorded during these concerts?

OK, I know there are a ton of these, but I really need some guidance. I'm trying to put together a great entry-level system. I just bought a Denon DP-60L from a local record shop, which was tweaked by the record shop owner, who owns the same model. It's in mint condition and dead sexy. It is a direct drive, and I know some people look down on DD's, but I have heard nothing but good things about this model.

A minor point, but Fremer says that conventional phono preamps are disqualified from this digital RIAA curve thing because they all do RIAA.
But the popular Bellari VP530 actually has a button that toggles RIAA EQ (i.e. you can turn it off and feed the non-EQ'd signal to your computer via USB or the RCA outs). Minor point, but could be useful if you're wanting to go that route.
Great thanks to John Atkinson, Michael Fremer, and Art Dudley
This is a diverse group. In my apartment system, I have been fighting the Sony SCD-777ES and Meridian 508-24 for years. Both have been sent back to whence they came for repairs of the lens/tracking systems. Yet, both repeatedly fall back into their old habits -- "No Disc," says the Sony, when presented with SACD platters, and "zzzzzztttttttssqqqkkkkkk -- game over," sputters the Meridian, when fed ANY CD it doesn't feel like eating at the moment.

I used my sealed/closed headphones on a flight the other day. They helped with the noise a bit, but really not as much as I had hoped. Noise intruded and made it hard to listen to music. Seems like jet travel noise comes through the head and body, not just the ears!
Would true in-ear types be much better?
