I'd like to thank Steve Guttenburg for a great "As we see it" (AWSI) in the April issue. Steve's quite right that many (pop) recordings suck and are not good enough for high-end playback. What shocks me is how many are trying to do this. I've noticed over the years, in a competing (print) magazine, that the bulk of their monthly music selections are rock and pop. Nothing wrong with rock and roll...but is it a good idea to play this kind of music through a high-resolution music system ? And that's for any (historical) rock record - how about the ones made this decade ?

Hi I just upgraded my receiver to a new Denon AVR-789 and in the process, picked up a USED CV AVS-Sub8 subwoofer.

After initial hookup of the system, everything worked fine. The sub received power and sounded pretty good (for an 8" sub anyway). I played it for about 45 minutes.

Forget North Korea and Iran. The president's first real international crisis is 4 Somalian pirates holding the captain of a lifeboat hostage. I don't think this is something "meetings" alone are going to fix. I find this incident a little ironic. Come on, Mr. President, Aye! mon then!

I'm not sure I'm in the right place....so if not maybe I need some directions instead of advice.

My Denon cd player just started clicking badly...so I need to replace it. I bought my system in the late 80's and haven't thought about audio equipment since Stereo Review magazine went under.

We listen to classical, opera and rock. My wife is a violinist, with a better set of hears than me. We have been pleased with our Adcom preamp/amp and the denon dcd cd player through KEF reference speakers.

Personally, I think he took food off the table for the families of his fellow band members who all look like the sons of Buddy Holly.

I have Niles volume controls installed throughout my house. I was wondering if anyone knows of any wireless volume controls, ones that I can remotely control (turn on as well as control volume). It could be wifi or RF, preferably not IR as I would have to be in the room. Thanks.
