A Glorious Day

A Glorious Day

It was a glorious day. The Good Lord smiled upon our little blue world with clear skies, warm sunshine, and limited edition 7" singles. I strolled into Tunes at 11:30am, just a half-hour after the store had opened. A large crowd of happy shoppers was already huddled round the main display shelves. Radiohead singles from every era of the band's brilliant career and so many colorful 7" discs and samplers and posters and platter mats and they have already run out of the Sonic Youth/Beck splits. What? Figures! Oh well. I am not disappointed&#151not too terribly. Instead, I am happy for those who came before me, happy for the bands and happy for the labels and happy for the world.

Finding my way

Soundesign was my reality, but Krell was in my dreams. It was the early 1980s. I researched and made up lists of equipment and riddled out how long I would have to save the two dollars an hour I was making before I could afford to own the objects of my acoustic desire. I soon dismissed the whole idea.

$15 pretty fair deal for interconnects

Forums

Got some Monster Cable interconnects from audioadvisor - probably this line of cables are discontinued now - interlink 400MKII ($18 for 1 meter pair) and 300mkII ($15 for 1m pair).
Can't afford not to buy them - that's less than what you will sometimes pay for generic or Rat Shack cables, yes?

I connected a cdp and the preamp with the 400's and I think I hear a microscopic improvement over the previous cheap interconnects. Can't complain.

Everybody loves Monster Cable, right? (that's just to poke a stick into the cage, for fun...)

Verity Audio Sarastro II loudspeaker Measurements

Verity Audio Sarastro II loudspeaker Measurements

I've been listening with great pleasure to Verity Audio's Parsifal Ovation loudspeakers the past few years, so I was intrigued to hear the company's step-up model, the Sarastro II. At 150 lbs each and $39,995/pair, the Sarastro II weighs and costs nearly twice as much as the Ovation. Would it sound twice as good?
