Lamm LP2 Deluxe phono preamplifier Art Dudley

In an ideal world, I'd have every phono section I've reviewed in the past 16 years on hand to compare with these three and with all that arrive in the future. But because I have a life, I don't, and I wouldn't even if I could, though some readers (and one retailer) have insisted that that's the only way that I could possibly be of any use to them. Ha! And for those who are concerned that I've neglected the Manley Steelhead, not so! It's still my reference.

Let's Just Say Shrunken Heads

Let's Just Say Shrunken Heads

Let's just say I had a little bit too much fun at last night's CD release party. Let's just say beer, tequila, and rum. Let's just say hot girls in summer dresses making out on the cushioned booth. Yeah, let's just say that. At one point, I turned away from the stage to see that the front room had been transformed into The Tequila Scene from Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. It was like a dream, I tell you, and it may have been the most wonderful thing I've ever witnessed in my life.

Question about digital subscriptions

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but I'm curious about the format of the digital Stereophile. I have a paper subscription, but was thinking about adding a digital subscription because I do a lot of work travel and it would be nice to be able to access the magazine on the road (when I've stupidly left the magazine behind).

Is it published as a .pdf? Or is it some other form of electronic document? The reason I ask is that ideally I'd like to be able to access it with my iPod Touch, and .pdf would work for this.

Thanks!

Major newbie needs buying advice!

I have never had a decent stereo sytem, and darn it I deserve one! I can really only spend about $500-700 dollars though. I have the opportunity to buy a used Onkyo TX-8511 receiver $65. It works fine, is this a decent receiver? Or should I just buy a new one? I thought I could spend about $500 on cd player and speakers. Should I get better speakers or cd player? am I just being cheap to only spend that much or can I build a decent system within that budget?
