LAST Seeks New Ownership

LAST Seeks New Ownership

The first chapter in the history of the LAST Factory, manufacturer of LAST Record Preservative for LPs, is coming to a close. After shepherding for 30 years the Livermore, California–based company he founded, LAST's president, Walter Davies, is retiring to devote his energies to still photography. With Jan and Ric Mancuso, of Trade Secrets Consulting, Davies is looking for a buyer to keep the company in operation.

Buying new floorstading speakers. Infinity, Boston, Polk, or Sony?

Im looking to set up my first 'listening room' on somewhat of a budget though.

I need some help deciding on my speakers. I'm looking at:
Infinity Primus P252
Boston Acoustics CS-226
Polk Audio Monitor 60
Sony SS-F7000

I'm most likely pairing these with a Pioneer VSX-519V-K

Which of these are my best bets or are there any other speakers and/or receivers I should be looking at?

Legacy Whispers

Forums

a friend of mine became a legacy dealer this week. he toured the factory and brought home a set of Whispers. I helped him unload so was there when he hooked up his 8 watt custom made Morrow Audio SET mono blocks. If you want to see unusual design in a very large speaker, check out their website. Anyway, right out of the box, the sound was smooth and mellow. Just a little down on bass, but the 8 15" woofers were brand new and it was an SET. I had also brought over an Arcam P80 stereo amp that I no longer use, so we hooked that budget solid state amp up (65w 8ohm, 105w 4ohm).

A fun read

That was a fun read, Art! I especially like Jeff's illustrations of A.vs.P. ...and the bit about ..er..a being who is a bit like an unwanted relative. "No, I don't know him, man, he's like, from the other side of the family."

Hello to everyone, I'm brand new here...

I've been playing and listening to music for over 40 years. I played trumpet from grade school through college, and now days sing in an acapella octet. I work as a broadcast engineer, run front of house at a large church, and am the sound chair for our local community theater. My favorite speakers are a pair of home made TQWT's in my office at work, and I love making and using various electronic devices.

Type Recordings

Type Recordings

I had been curious about the gorgeous releases from UK indie label, Type Recordings, but because I knew none of the artists, I held back. Invariably, however, I would be drawn to their albums, simply taken by the quiet, thoughtful cover art and album titles like I Could Not Love You More and Your Eyes The Stars and Your Hands The Sea. How could I not be attracted to this?
