R.I.P. Walter Sear, American Synth Pioneer and All-Around Musical Virtuoso
4/30/2010 By Stephen Carlick
American musical guru Walter Sear reportedly passed away Thursday (April 29) at the age of 79. The man was, at varying times in his storied life, a tuba player/designer, inventor, composer, recording engineer, analog equipment guru and synthesizer pioneer.
The major record labels were riding high, then hit a major speedbump due to the Internet, high pricing, and mediocre music. What's next? What do you think will happen to the major record labels?
In a podcast at UltimateAV recently, JA stated that loudspeakers would have to be the same shape of the instrument they're reproducing for it to have correct fidelity. But most of the music we listen to is a *blend* of instruments whose soundwaves cancel each other out.
Then, for vocal music, I doubt the person(s) physical shape would matter. The same goes for piano - is it affected by the shape of its soundboard ? How about digital pianos ? What "shape" do they have ?
