help me decide on speaker stands

Guys,

I need your help. I am looking for a pair if stands for my Von Schweikert VR1 Monitors. I cannot decide between apollo A2 (http://www.apollohifi.co.uk/Speaker/Speaker.html) and Diva stand(http://www.swanspeaker.com/products/accessory.aspx?aid=1&type=homestereo). Or maybe you have one mind that you can recommend.

Thanks,

How many albums?

As I moved yet another round of cds down to the basement last night, and surveyed my bulging at the seams storage area, I got to wondering how many albums serious listeners own, and how they're stored, and whether the herd ever gets culled.

I'm guessing I have a couple of thousand cds all told, with perhaps a hundred lps and even though it's slightly OT, a few hundred dvds.

What I'd like To Read...

I know you folks don't do requests, but I would love some sort of general update on tuners - what's the state of the art, what to buy, etc. Radio is probably less and less a source for many folks, but personally (and living on the border with Canada) I'm finding lots to interest me.

And if I could push my luck: can someone give a listen to the new passive AudioEngines?

tks,

Scott A.

The Tallest Man On Earth: The Wild Hunt

Comparisons to a young Bob Dylan are inevitable. There’s the same sort of defiance, the odd insouciance, the long lines of poetry squeezed out and hacked out and blown out like kisses, too. The guitar work is very good&#151scintillating at times and always passionately wrought&#151but it’s the voice that gets you. The voice&#151childlike but crotchety as hell, delicate but yearning, beautiful but completely wrong. The voice is what gets you. Kristian Matsson is The Tallest Man On Earth; he plays rock and roll, and plans to be forgotten when he’s gone.

My JSB journey of discovery continues and this fascinating disc is my latest find:

The disc revolves around an interesting musicological premise, namely that the Ciaccona from the D minor Partita is actually an epitaph to Bach's first wife of thirteen years, Maria Barbara, who passed away suddenly in the summer of 1720.

Power conditioner/cutoff

I live in N. California, around plenty of eucalyptus trees. In the rainy/windy season, we have frequent power outages. While I have my stereo system behind a Panamax power conditioner, when the power goes off and returns, the Panamax starts up again and reboots the system.
What I am looking for is a power interrupt switch, that goes off when the power goes off, but has to be manually restarted, thus preventing sudden off-on scenarios for my VAC integrated.

Thanks,

Roders.

Have you guys seen “Date Night,” the new comedy starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey? I’m thinking about going to check it out because: 1., Steve Carell is <a href="http://www.moviemaker.com/images/uploads/steve_carell_40_year_old_virgi…;; 2., Tina Fey is <a href="http://thezaz.nationallampoon.com/files/2009/12/tinafey_21313.jpg">hot<…;; 3., Parts of the film are set in my college town of Teaneck, NJ; and, 4., There are scenes featuring a hi-fi made up of Meridian’s DSP7200 Digital Active loudspeakers, Reference 800 DVD player, and G68 surround controller.
