I want my first 'real' 2.1 for some good music and movies...

Hi All,
I joined the 'club' since I would like to upgrade from my old panasonic all.in one bought 5yrs. ago at the mall x 200$...

My goal would be to get a bit more hi fi and get a stereo system that will deliver some great sound on movies and give me some pleasure when listening to music in the living room.

My idea was for a bose 3.2.1 since its my ignorant conception of hi.fi...
Ive browsed some reviews and it looks very wrong!

I don't want an integrated dvd or so, nor a 5.1 since Im not willing to run cables everywhere now.

Sound reflection in rooms

In a podcast at UltimateAV recently, JA stated that loudspeakers would have to be the same shape of the instrument they're reproducing for it to have correct fidelity. But most of the music we listen to is a *blend* of instruments whose soundwaves cancel each other out.

Then, for vocal music, I doubt the person(s) physical shape would matter. The same goes for piano - is it affected by the shape of its soundboard ? How about digital pianos ? What "shape" do they have ?

Where We Are and How We Got Here

Where We Are and How We Got Here

As another Consumer Electronics Show rolls around, we are seeing some interesting and not-entirely encouraging things taking place in the audio field. The people for whom high fidelity was originally intended—so-called serious music listeners —have abandoned audio almost completely, leaving the pursuit of perfect music reproduction to a group of hobbyists who have more interest in hardware than in music. This, plus the recession, has almost killed middle-fi, which is now flailing out in all directions looking for a new market. Here's how it all came to pass:
