Stumbled on this list of the world's 105 most expensive 'speakers.
Even ignoring the eternal debates about value/affordability in the high end, this list (like I suppose any similar endeavour) still beggars belief whichever way you look at it:
High-end audio is an international pursuit, with components and products sourced from all over the world. Setting aside the manufacturers' headquarters addresses, how many of the products in your system are actually manufactured outside of your home country?
Martin Gardner used to write the math puzzles in Scientific American and was author of many terrific math based books.
He wrote a great book called "The Annotated Alice" with many references about the inside jokes and allusions in the Lewis Carroll books.
He lived to a ripe old age, so I mention him as an example of a life well lived rather than mourning a premature demise.
Woo Hoo!
Got the June Issue!
What's up with the letter-dudes?
Some guy with a 22 thousand dollar system hating on how much it would cost for a system if you chose the most expensive recommended component in each Stereophile Recommended Component category?
Does he realize that a vast majority of civilians would look at his tosssing off 22K as 'normal' makes him a kook in their eyes?
Struts has brought up some good points about thread deterioration and I think I have a solution:
A forum devoted to flaming only.
Only rule: you must flame.
You can even flame yourself.
Can you imagine Jan flaming himself with ever longer replies?
The only danger is that StereoPhile would run out of bandwidth.
(just joshing Jan)
And how about a Purgatory Sub Forum where one goes when he doesn't flame enough?
Buddha would have to post W/O a sense of humor.
Jan would be allowed posts of 1 simple sentence only.
