Art Dudley is either trolling or hasn't been paying attention to the ADDA manufacturers as regards Nyquist and people not saying enough is enough. Dan Lavry (Lavry Engineering) has been arguing since the first 4X clocking converters came out that they were more than overkill and even detrimental to making the sound better.
So if you were looking for the answer of your "quiz" there it is. A little google in the pro audio pages will reveal many bytes of argument there (and lots of flames).

Hi:
Please help me find the high quality recordings (CD/SACD) for the following. If the performance was modest then it is fine but the recording must of high quality. Still best of both worlds will be greatly appreciated.
1. Tchaikovsky, Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor, Op. 23
2. Samuel Barber, Adagio for Strings
3. Joaquín Rodrigo, Concierto de Aranjuez
Regards,
Haroon

Preamplifier with bypass and phono?

I have a Bel Canto DAC3 which sounds much better driving the power amp directly than thru the preamplifier (a vintage Adcom)
Can anyone suggest a decent preamplifier with a true bypass, and hopefully a phono stage as well? I looked at the Parasound 2100, but the reviews seem underwhelming regarding sound quality.
Older used gear is ok. Thanks

Since I didn't get any apperent replies on my first thread; nevermind a view, I'll put this simply. I'm using my first gen X-box 360 for music storage. I like it because I find it very convient to load a c.d. and play whatever I wish from my library. However I want something of better quality. Is there something out there that won't cost me an arm and a leg and will do the same thing while maintaining the quality audio from my c.d.'s and considerably outperform the reliability; or lack there of, from the X-box 360.

I'm looking to upgrade my audio system with a new AV receiver. I was looking to spend under $500, but I'd be willing to go over $500 if it really makes a big difference. My current audio system looks like this...
Samsung BD-C6500 Blu Ray Player
(connected via toslink optical)
Music Fidelity V-DAC
Sony STR-DE425 A/V Receiver
Definitive StudioMonitor 450 stereo speakers
I also connect my ipod to the receiver via a Cables To Go 4-Foot RCA Stereo to Dock Connector Cable.
Hi:
I'm planning on buying the next hardware:
Musical Fidelity M6i
Musical Fidelity M6CD
But i want to use them on 2 PSB Synchrony One, now the question is the amplifier M6i responds in 8 ohms but the loudspeakers in 4 Ohms, are these things compatible??? Am i going to face some problems using this combination? Some told me that i can make the amplifier work on 4 Ohms but the amount of watts sent to the loudspeakers will double so it will damage the equipment. (English is not my native language so sorry for any mistakes).
