Ol' Wolfgang's 250th birthday was yesterday.

That called for a little champagne and Eine Kleine Nacht Music, then Karl Bohm's 35-41 Berlin Philharmonics on Deutsche Grammophon.

I really like Bohm. I don't know if his name is hailed or is anathema, but I have a soft spot for him.

Part of it may be that back in the day, I just automatically associated enjoyable classical tunes with the black and yellow of DG LP's, so when I see that sort of cover, perhaps I get less critical.

We ended the evening with String Quartets 14 - 23 by Gerhard Schulz.

Thoughts? I own the remasted LP and the remastered CD with the bonus take...the CD sounds clearer with more stable images, but the lp is slightly fuller...at least to me. Both are excellent. John Marks piece is excellent in FEB issue.

His new cd (Timeless) comes out on Valentine's Day and it's just the right music to relax to It's sooooo chill. I heard about it at Universal Music... It was sooo random.

Please recommend an audiophile quality album of solo Conga Drums or Drum Kit? A kind of CD that has lifelike power and dynamic range!

I'm located in Wichita, KS and I'm looking for some places to buy new records. I'm willing to drive a little (Kansas City, Oklahoma City or someplace within 3 or so hours of Wichita)... any shops in either of those places that you would recommend? I do a lot of shopping at Love Garden in Lawrence, but I'm looking for a shop that carries more Classical music as well as rock, jazz, country etc.
