Anyone else using one, this is my first turntable and was wondering if anyone had any useful tips on getting the best out of this table. I need to replace the cartridge, that much I know, and also was wondering about slip mats and other accersories that would help me get the most out of this machine as upgrading is not very likely for a few years. Also, I have read that the Ortofon cartridges are recommended with the AR tables as they seem to have less hiss and a lower noise floor with these tables.
Anything else I should know? Thanks!
Josh
I'm unhappy with my existing stands (they're not hollow and have begun to buzz with the new system) so I'm on the market for a new pair of bookshelf stands.
Are there any particular brands or models that come highly recommended? Bookshelf speakers are small Amphion Helium2's. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Aloha,
At the recent T.H.E. show, a very cool manufacturer who shall remain anonymous played me some tunes on his system using a Sony Playstation I as his CD source.
It sounded surprisingly good!
Of course, the next stop was Ebay, where these babies sell for about 20 to 30 bucks, including games! Now that one is winging its way westward, I figured I'd ask who's been playing (music) with these babies.
Also, here's a link to a thread about it at DIY Audio forums...

Congratulations, "dar," on being the lucky number 1000, and thanks to all of you who participate daily, helping to make this such a wonderful place for exchanging ideas, offering opinions, and sharing the passion and love for music and the hobby.
Right on.
I am by no means an audiophile - and don't have much experience with home stereos. Hoping to find some suggestions for solid set of main speakers. I am looking to keep them around $200-400/pr I will use them about 70% movies 30% music. It was suggested, and fits my budget to buy a Pioneer VSX 815k reciever to power them. With ripping me too bad for my ignorance - anyone want to help??
I have an Tone Arm from the old ages of NATIONAL,
but I do not know wether when it was manufactured,
nor to which system it fits.
On the box: "HiFi Tone Arm EPA 51" and the Logo of National.
Any idea?
Thanks in Advance,
