Here's why people think we're nuts

This month's TAS has a review of the Krell SACD Standard CD/SACD Player. Apparently this is a fine sounding player with a few "quirks." First, the drive mechanism is so noisy the reviewer recommends that the listener be seated at least five feet from the machine. Second, the track number disappears from the display after a few seconds while the track is playing so if you walk into the room and like what you hear you have to restart the track to figure out what it is. Oh and it takes 15 seconds to load an SACD and 25 seconds to load a CD.

B&W 703

Forums

Hello! I recently acquired B&W 703s'. I have not been able to get a satisfying answer to this question from B&W: "what is the meaning of -6dB at 30Hz". This is listed as the frequency range. The frequency response is listed as 38Hz - 25Hz +/- 3db on ref. axis. QUESTION:

Thanks.

Active Monitors

Forums

I recently was at a friend of a friends home recording studio and was fairly impressed by what I heard coming from his Mackie monitors. I am looking for a second system in my home and am considering the possibility of running iTunes (via AirTunes) straight to these active monitors. Let me say that I have no idea if that is possible or what the "true" audiophiles might think about active monitors. Opinions anyone?
