Welcome Summer!

Aloha,

Summer, summertime is here...

Just gonna go drive 'round town with all the windows down; but first, wanted some input from my fellow audio nerds:

What are the songs of summer?

For moi, there are three seminal songs:

1) Summer, by War. This would rank one through three, really. It's that iconic.

Ain't no summer song finer.

2) Two words: Mungo Jerry!

3) For some odd (most likely drug related) reason: Plastic Bertrand's "Ca Plan Pour Moi."

(This is best played on vinyl, please.)

Hi-Fi one hit wonders?

Aloha,

Just got the downstairs rig up and running again, and couldn't wait to toss on some...

...pardon my baser instincts...

1) School of Fish - Three Strange Days (as an aside, is this a religious song?)

This tune is compressed, but it's very "clean" sounding.

No, it's not proper Hi-Fi, but it's a nice tune to play on the Hi-Fi.

Next up was...

2) The Burning Sensations - Belly of the Whale.

Canon Speakers?

Why waste space on your site by posting this review? Not even a picture of what they looked like. Why not a past review of something someone might actually be using? This is just wrong. Anyone who bought Canon Speakers, I would surmise, trashed them long ago, or is not a reader of this site. If there is anyone out there using these speakers please reply. Again, WHY?

my greatest tweaker ever - speaker stands

In the late 80's I purchased satellite speakers with a subwoofer. I decided to make my own stands, but first I corresponded with the speaker manufacturer to see if my proposed stands were good enough. I got the goahead so got 8" square concrete blocks. I put a square of wood on the bottom with some nails poking up into the block. I placed an 18" galvanized pipe in the center and poured concrete to hold it all together. I screwed on a plumbing pipe gizmo that had four holes for screws to attach a piece of wood. The speakers had four holes in the bottom to secure them.

Freud Lives!

Freud Lives!

At the bank yesterday, I saw a guy with a Pink Freud teeshirt. It actually took me a minute to get it, so, to show I did, I said, "And by the way, which one's Pink?" I got a blank look in response, so I assume he was a Freud, not Floyd, fan.
