Fisher 400 Tuner not working

I am a know-nothing when it comes to stereo equipment. A friend gave me an indefinite loan of his Fisher 400 vacuum tube receiver. We love it not just for the sound, but because the tuner actually picks up stations most crappy modern equipment won't. But about two months after we got it, the tuner stopped picking up ANY signals at all. Anyone have a clue what might have broken? Is the tuning function controlled by one of those tubes?

Last night in a torrential rain storm, I trucked northward along the Hudson to Tarrytown, NY. A half hour's ride across the Tappan Zee bridge and we were in Piermont, NY at a club called the Turning Point.

Why is it so hard to access the contents page of the current Stereophile?

I'm used to the old Stereophile website. When you wanted to find out what was in the current issue you simply clicked on it. Now, everytime I go to the site, I have to search around forever to find a way of accessing the contents page and half the time I just give up.

It would have been a very sad story. Having diligently packed the Ayre units and sent them off to lofty Boulder, I was left with empty space. I considered bringing the old Magnavox down from the closet. Luckily, I'd done a bad job of returning the Musical Fidelity A3.5 integrated amp and CD player. Reuniting them with the DeVore gibbon 3 loudspeakers was enlightening.

Let's see where everyone's true passion is. Where would you rather work on a daily basis, a record store or a HiFi shop?

As fun as it would be to work at a HiFi Shop I think the bore factor would come in quick(er). I'd prefer the record store because of the endless new discoveries/experiences. I'd team up with a local HiFi shop if I was the record store owner, have them donate a nice entry level 2-ch system that shoppers could listen to potential purchases on perhaps. In return I'd donate "demo" discs to the HiFi shop for them to showcase their gear.
