Ouch, Mr. Fremer doesn't hold back his bile towards the CD format in this month's "Analog Corner"!
Yes, the Compact Disc had a rocky start but the medium sounds pretty darn good now.
Unlike Mr. Fremer, I'm hoping that the CD format, or at least some form of uncompressed digital disc format, lives on and continues to improve.

an Anthem Amp1 and the MF A3.2CR?
I purchase the Amp1 almost 2 years ago now and the MF A3C3 just last christmas. I am happy with this setup.
What would the Pre 1L offer over my current setup? I already know it's supopsed to be a very nice unit and mates well with the Amp1 but I am not sure I should buy it just because of that.
Just wondering what it would get me over the MF and if it's worth the effort to get a Anthem Pre 1L? Just very curious.
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,

hello all over the past few years i have collected a couple hundred records that i really enjoy, alot of jazz, blues, classical, rock, reggae, and ska mostly.
i have never owned a nice stereo so i am a little unsure about what to buy. i have gotten some advice from friends and this is the list of what i am considering. my budget is under 2000.
Now that I've purchased a new system...While I was looking for new equipment I was reminded, by a number of "experts", to be sure that the amp could drive the speakers I chose. I was given a long scientific explanation as to how to determine the speakers and amp were properly matched...certain speakers required higher wattage amps to perform properly. In layman's terms, how does a person determine what amp works best with what speaker? Does one go by the Power Handling specs that the speaker manufacturer post.
