Now that I'm sure I've turned a lot of people off on this post, perhaps someone will be curious enough to look further at the content.
The situation:
I compete on a national level in Car Audio Sound Quality competitions. This is not the loud boom boom you probably think of when you're thinking of car audio. This is trying to accurately reproduce the sound stage in a vehicle.

Hey, last month it was NAD stealing the Revox look.
This month, it's Moon stealing the Levinson look.
Maybe they can change their names to Moon Levinson, too.

Is carbon black magnetic?
I can't find any source saying it is.

Whenever you hear the words "Peter belt," cover your wallet and turn on your bullshit filter.
We gotta suss out this LP demagnetizing stuff!
Kind of new at this stuff. I have begun researching receivers and I think I have narrowed it down to either the HK AVR645 or the Pioneer Elite VSX-84TXSi. Both receivers are about the same price($1,400 Can, I am in Toronto). I have already setup my Sanyo Z4 projector with the HDMI feed and now I just cannot decide on the receiver. I am also torn about speakers, either PSBs or JBLs? Can someone please just tell me what to do????
Thanks for any comments...
Peter
I'm wondering what the experts would recommend as far as a reference set of head phones and a portable CD player?
I am very interested in learning to tune my vehicle and as such, have learned that many of the experts recommend the Grado SR65 headphones and the HeadRoom AirHead preamp.
I'm seeing that it appears that the SR65 head phones are no longer available, but that the SR125s seem to be a great product. Is this the case?
I'm reading over on the HeadRoom web site currently. However, I felt that this page would give me a less biased opinion.
