Initially, we had actually invented a new uber "Tice Clock" like deivice, only much much better. In fact, it made the Machina Dynamica stuff sound like a placebo!

First off let me state that I design PA systems for a living so im very skeptical about any of this cable and interconnet stuff. Having said that the following has just happened to me

1 - Tried a $250 interconnect between CD and amp instead of my Radio shack $20 Monster and the system performance dipped, so back to the Radio Shack cable.

2 - Tried a $150 pair of speaker interconnects over my $10 Radio shack monster zip cables, these totally changed the performance of my system for the better.

Ihave an old 1979 tangent amp and preamp the preamp is 0007 s/n Ipaid 800.00 in 1979 for both Id like to buy a suround amp that I can use with turntable same vintage denon with moviing coil cartridge Id like to go with bryston but im not sure whats the best way to go

I'm relatively new in the anolog world and i'm looking to pick up my first turntable. With a price range of around 400-500 dollars, what do you guys think would be the best option?

Im new to the site and have been recently wondering about home audio. I stumbled upon the whole 'audiophile' deal when i was looking for a nice pair of headphones about a month back. I just purchased a pair of grado sr 60's and i love them. And now i was looking to get a receiver, cd player, amp, speakers and what not. Acctually I'm not to sure what i need to make a decent system. Plus i dont want to spend more than like 600-800 dollars. And while ive been reading around the forums it doesnt look like i could get a very good system for that price.

Hello,

A bit of a newbie here.

What is the difference between balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA?) connections?

It seems that some higher-end compnents (both amps and sources) have XLR components, but the majority of them have RCA ones. What does the "balancing" get you (theoretically or practically)?
