I am a classic jazz guy, through and through. No Kenny G for me! Looking for a Xmas album by the masters, if such a thing exists. I vaguely remember one called "A Be-Pop Christmas", or something like that.

I auditioned the Rotel RC1070/RB1070 preamp & power amp running both a pair of Paradigm Reference Studio 100s & a pair of B&W 802 speakers. As a newbie to separates, I was favorably impressed.

Since I might not have the opportunity to audition the NAD 162/272, I would really appreciate your candid comments on how they compare to the Rotels. Thank you!

In purchasing a high-end integrated amp, do I need to ensure that it has a minimum # of watts, assuming my speakers are fairly sensitive (89db, 6 ohms impedence) even if I listen at fairly low volumes? I've heard that there are sounds that momentarily require high(er) wattage to hear especially at low volumes. Is this true?

Yep- That's right, bring the 21st Century right back into the 19th! What could be better than using unbelievably complex technology (an ipod) to play music through a passively amplified horn Victrola!? I don't listen to an ipod generally, but this thing makes me want to! I could set it up on a table near my Well Tempered Turntable and do some double blind testing, heheh.
