Well, last week I was loaned Peter and the Commissar, a production by Allan Sherman and the Boston Pops, for me to listen to.
I threw it on this morning, and I have to say that this is one of the funniest things that I have ever heard in my life!
Although it is VERY noisy (missing the inner sleeve missing and not well taken care of), the sonics are OUTSTANDING...this is also the first time that I can remember hearing a Living Stereo pressing....
Highly Recommended. It also pokes fun at bureaucracy
We are very excited to announce the release of the Red Wine Audio Isabella - a battery powered tubed line-stage preamp with optional built-in "Isabellina" dac module (with USB, coax, and optical inputs) and headphone output stage.
More details can be found here:

I'm looking at acoustic treatments for my office, which doubles as a DAW music room and home of my latest stereo acquisition.
The engineer in me thinks I should precisely test my room and figure out if I have acoustic issues. Then I should "fix" the issues via specific measures.
The engineer in me thinks that to accurately measure the acoustic characteristics of my room will take a significant investment of time and money. (How accurate can a Radio Shack microphone recorded via a Sound Blaster be...) (Ok, I have better recording gear than that, but the point remains.)
Hey,
I'm new here, so I'm sorry if this is a duplicate post. I searched the first dozen or so pages here and didn't really see what I was looking for.
I'm hoping to make the jump into vinyl. I want something that's gonna open my eyes (ears) to the hi-fi vinyl experience, but I don't have unlimited funds.
If I can get a full setup (TT, amp, speakers) for under $1000, that would be great. But if it's not realistic to get a good setup on that budget, please, tell me that, too.
I recently added the Playback Designs MPS-CD/SACD player to my system and now that I've got some hours on it I thought I'd share my impressions.
First, realize that I don't have any references in the same price band as the PD, so the comparison will be to a grossly different universal player (a modded Pioneer Elite DV-58AV with a Superclock 4 and beefed up I/O stages). The Pioneer was actually pretty decent with SACD, but I longed for much more with redbook CD. I found myself listening to lots of vinyl or listening to SACDs and DVD-As.
Hello Ethan...If we do a low frequency response test as laid out in "http://www.realtraps.com/test-cd.htm" we should get a plot with 70db as the mean line, with variations above and delow 70db, based on the interference happening in the room. Why is the plot shown in the link different. The mean is around -15 db. and what does negative sign for db mean. Thanks. - Pradeep
Since I have spent this last year teaching math and coaching football, basketball, and baseball at the middle school level one audio issue has come to light. I am doing my part to fix it.
Most teachers are doing a lot of multimedia presentations in the classroom these days. This requires a decent video source, but it always seems that audio is short changed.
We have teachers who have large televisions and even LCD projectors in their classrooms. There are even extra projectors for teachers to borrow that at avaialble from the media center/library for check out.
