Secret info for the Stereophile crew:

There is always a problem with knowing where to eat at audio shows. How to find the good food when your blood sugar is low and you need sustenance NOW and you need it fast. So you can get back to the show, of course! Or, at the end of a hard day running a room at the show, where to go for that incredible Montreal Style Smoked Meat sandwich?

But...to get there NOW, and to be served NOW and to have it be INCREDIBLE.

That is the impossible combination.

Any of you guys see the Rafa Nadal-Fer Verdasco semi-final match in the Australian Open? It was frickin' incredible, the second best match I've ever seen, after the epic Nadal-Federer final at Wimbledon.

Since we are all spending a lot more time at home, myself included, I am taking time everyday to go to my audio room and listen to some music. I have to say that listening to some of my old Simon & Garfunkel, Billy Joel and Traffic CD's is like hearing them for the first time when played on a great hi-fi system. If more people knew that their CD's could sound this good high end audio would experience a true awakening, especially since you don't have to spend a lot to get great sound now.

I've read Stereophile for about 15 years now. Over the years I've come to notice a striking fact about the magazine -- one that I haven't heard others mention.

Michael, ...Mike, (can I call you Mike?) for the love of GOD...a $3500 CD player is no more 'moderately priced' or ' modestly' priced than was the Congress's last $4700 pay raise in a recession prudent and well earned.

The average family income before taxes is only a bit more than $50K....This 'modestly' priced item costs perhaps 10% of their income after taxes! That is one hell of a lot of money to most folk.

It will be 38-10 until Leinart leads the Cards to a meaningless late fourth quarter touch to make it 17.

(I'm rooting for Warner to throw for 400 and get another MVP, 'cause he seems like a nice guy but now it's reality time.)
