Every day a new economic indicator points downward. Most retail stores near me have been putting many items on sale- many substantially.
Yet whenever I visit my local hi-fi dealer, or Music Direct, Audio Advisor, etc., the prices seem etched in stone. I worked for a number of years doing home theater installs, and know that audio equipment has quite a markup, on the order of 40-50 per cent.

Got an email today from The Decemberists' PR person who read my selfdivider.com blog (which I haven't been doing a good job updating)... she wants me to listen to the advanced copy of The Hazard of Love, the new LP from The Decemberists that's due out in March & hopefully write about it. Sweet... I asked her if she can send me the vinyl I've read about the album, supposed to be this 17-song suite with a narrative, kind of like a rock opera... can't wait. Will let y'all know more later...

Will this device handle 24/96 files? Also, I am considering connecting this unit to my MF A3.24 DAC via the Toslink output-is this a "bit-perfect" connectinon?

I may be one of the few pack-rats who still owns one of these things in a plastic box that carries the late, lamented Acoustic Research (AR) brand. (Not ARC, youngsters.) But back in the day, it was a lot cheaper than the Shure gauge, and ought to be so still -- I wonder why it's not. Never mind.
